The Cell Therapy and Flow Cytometry Laboratory provides diagnostic services to clinicians within RCH and RWH.

The laboratory also provides haematopoietic stem cell (HSC) manipulation and processing services for RCH. 

The laboratory is NATA and FACT accredited and is a COG accredited reference laboratory for MRD testing.

Services

 Our services can be divided into 4 major categories:

• Diagnostic Flow Cytometry - including the analysis of samples to assist in the diagnosis of leukaemia & lymphoma, enumeration of haemopoietic stem cells in a stem cell product (ie CD34 assay), enumeration of foetal cells in the maternal circulation, detection of red cell membrane disorders and the detection of DNA aneuploidy.
• MRD - Minimum Residual Disease monitoring for T and B acute leukaemia.
  
• Stem Cell Processing - laboratory processing of stem cell products so they are suitable for either allogeneic or autologous HSC transplantation. Processing may include red cell depletion, plasma depletion, TCR a/b depletion, cryopreservation and thawing of cryopreserved cells.
• Facilitation of CAR T-cell and cytotoxic T lymphocyte (CTL) production and/or infusion.
